What is Ripple?
Ripple is a cryptocurrency, released in 2012, it's a real-time gross settlement system ( RTGS ), which is a fancy way of saying it sends large amounts of money from one bank to another bank in real time. Settlement in real time means that your payment will not have a waiting period and is settled as soon as it's processed. As of 2017, Ripple is the 3rd largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, after Bitcoin and Ethereum. Companies such as UniCredit, UBS and Santander with more adopting the Ripple protocol for their payment networds and banking needs.
